RecyclableLANARK Wallcovering Now Features 30% Recycled Content

RECORE™ Recycled Wall Technology makes LANARK Wallcovering your eco-friendly alternative.

What is your idea of the perfect wallcovering?  One that contains a significant amount of recycled content?  That can be recycled into new wallcoverings?  Features low VOC emissions?  Contributes to LEED credits?  And still offers the same great looks and performance as traditional wallcovering?

Well, LANARK Wallcoverings can be all that – and more.   With the addition of RECORE Recycled Wall Technology,* LANARK Wallcoverings manufactured to this standard are now your best choice for an eco-friendly wall surfacing solution.  Featuring 30% recycled content in a Type II, 20 oz. construction, RECORE gives you the opportunity to reduce the environmental impact of all of your upcoming interior projects.

RECORE can be specified as a custom construction for most current LANARK Wallcovering patterns.  And look for the RECORE logo on the sampling of future standard pattern introductions.

30% Recycled content

30% Recycled Content30% Recycled Content – Less is More
Because recycled materials comprise 30% of their content, Type II, 20 oz. LANARK Wallcoverings with RECORE achieve the welcome combination of consuming far less new materials during their manufacture, while also sending significantly less potential waste to landfills.  Less consumption and less waste – what more could you want!  LANARK's recycled content includes 20% post consumer waste (primarily plastic bottles/PET), as well as 10% post industrial content (generally used vinyl wallcovering gathered from installation waste, bindery scraps, obsolete inventory and outdated sampling.)

By selecting LANARK Wallcoverings with their high percentage of post-consumer recycled content, you make a difference by helping to divert used wallcovering from landfills and reducing consumer level "trash" as well.  It is a responsible, sustainable strategy – especially when you can acquire LEED points in the process (see below.)

Recyclable

RecyclableRecyclable – Remarkable
Because they are recyclable through our reclamation program, LANARK Wallcoverings featuring RECORE can be reclaimed and used to create new wallcoverings as well as other building products.  Following a new installation or a future renovation, leftover wallcovering scraps, construction waste, any after use materials – even qualifying used wallcovering – can be returned for recycling.  Which means you can divert even more waste materials from overburdened landfills. See our Wallcovering Reclamation Program for additional information.

Low VOC emitting

Low VOC EmittingLow VOC Emitting So You Can Breathe Easier
Most LANARK Wallcoverings – including ALL of those manufactured with RECORE Recycled Wall Technology – are GREENGUARD Indoor Air Certified® for their low VOC emissions.  That means they have been tested by the GreenGuard Environmental Institute for their chemical emissions performance and determined to be low VOC emitting for better indoor air quality.

Eligible for LEED credits

LEED Credits – Incredible
Several factors in their construction, manufacture and installation enable LANARK Wallcoverings featuring RECORE to potentially contribute up to six points in the LEED – Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design – rating system.  So use them in either new construction (LEED-NC) or commercial interior (LEED-CI) projects.
Please Note: no construction material, including LANARK Wallcoverings with RECORE, carries its own LEED rating.

Durable with a long life cycle

Durable for a Long Life Cycle
To build a viable sustainability strategy, you should start by using only high performance products that feature an extended service life.  Designed to last longer than the décor, LANARK Wallcoverings with RECORE meet or exceed the requirements of CCC-W-408A and with CFFA-W-101-D:
•  20 oz / linear yard
•  Tensile breaking strength – 130 lb. x 123 lb.
•  Fabric backing – nonwoven, 100% spun bonded polyester
•  Tear strength – 40 x 43

Not only do they deliver superior life cycle performance, but LANARK Wallcoverings with RECORE require minimal maintenance.  They're also stain resistant, washable, scrubbable, and exceed the Gardner Scrubbability Test ASTM D 2486 – tested to 2,500 cycles with no damage to finish or print.

Which all goes to show that LANARK Wallcoverings with RECORE can decorate walls over an extended period of time, consume less energy, use fewer raw materials, and generate less waste – resulting in a favorable, eco-friendly footprint as well as a minimized life-cycle cost.

Eco-friendly packaging

Even the Packaging is Recyclable
LANARK Wallcoverings with RECORE are packaged in convenient 30 yard rolls using 100% recycled cores, which can be easily recycled through traditional community recycling stations.

Safety and fire protection

Class A Fire Protection – Classy
LANARK Wallcoverings with RECORE meet or exceed Class A wallcovering requirements. They carry the NFPA 101 and IBC Class A interior wall and finish rating when tested using ASTM-E84 method on Type X gypsum board and when tested in accordance with NFPA 286.

Description: M.R. Credit 2.1 requires the development and implementation of a construction waste management plan to quantify a material diversion goal of recycling and/or salvaging at least 50% of construction, demolition and packaging debris. Calculation may be done by weight or volume, but must be consistent throughout.

Eligibility: Trim and ends of rolls of LANARK Wallcoverings with RECORE are recyclable through our Wallcovering Reclamation Program.

Credit Value: One point.

Description: M.R. Credit 2.2 requires the development and implementation of a construction waste management plan to quantify a material diversion goal of recycling and/or salvaging at least 75% of construction, demolition and packaging debris.  Calculation may be done by weight or volume, but must be consistent throughout.

Eligibility: Trim and ends of rolls of LANARK Wallcoverings with RECORE are recyclable through our Wallcovering Reclamation Program.

Credit Value: One point.

Description: M.R. Credit 4.1 requires the use of materials with recycled content, such that the sum of the post-consumer recycled content plus one-half of the post-industrial content constitutes at least 10% of the total value of the materials in the project.

Eligibility: As required by the LEED standard, Type II, 20 oz. LANARK Wallcoverings with RECORE include 30% recycled content, including a minimum of 20% post-consumer recycled content (in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission document, Guides for the Use of Environmental Marketing Claims).

Credit Value: One point.

Description: M.R. Credit 4.2 requires the use of materials with recycled content such that the sum of post-consumer recycled content plus one-half of the post-industrial content constitutes at least 20% of the total value of the materials in the project.  The value of the recycled content portion of a material or furnishing is determined by dividing the weight of recycled content in the item by the total weight of all material in the item, then multiplying the resulting percentage by the total cost ($) of the item.

Eligibility: As required by the LEED standard, Type II, 20oz. LANARK Wallcoverings with RECORE include 30% recycled content, including a minimum of 20% post-consumer recycled content (in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission document, Guides for the Use of Environmental Marketing Claims).
